Airdrops // Allocating tokens for Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT holders

Hi everyone, thank you for voting and for all the productive discussion! The voting has closed with 2/3 of respondents voting Yes.

We are working on a way to move forward which requires BAYC holders to donate half of their airdrop allocation to a selection of non-profits. In addition, airdropped tokens will be locked for a period of time. These two strategies will ensure that interested Apes are engaged with our mission for the long term.

The number of BAYC holders that can claim the airdrop will be limited. We hope this new approach of “Donate-to-Claim” will be applicable toward a range of partnerships in the near future. Again, thank you for all the input and ideas, this has been a great example of community-led decision making, and both the dissenting and approving messages were equally valuable. We’re proceeding with an approach that aims to make everyone happy. More details to come!

I think it’s smart to include BAYC holders, mainly because of @illhelm’s post (Airdrops // Allocating tokens for Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT holders - #5 by illhelm.eth). Nice idea!

Being part of the community i feel that this would be very much appreciated by a community that is growing and need some support

Jumping into an old thread here, but had 2¢ to contribute.

How is BAYC community organized? Or is it organized? Maybe there would be some benefit from coordinating an airdrop organized with the community.

I favor more coordination with organizations that are more closely aligned with Popcorn: KlimaDAO, The Week - both specifically environmentally focused.

This is enough reason to make an airdrop to BAYC holders, Also they’re diamond handed players.
In the long term all kind of communities are our partners to realise our mission (defi for good)

I understand the idea, but i’m hesitant to agree with it - mainly because the socio-demographic make up of the BAYC community seems to be very US-centric and very male and from what I’ve been observing they aren’t really as a group interested in charitable work (with the exception of individual BAYC holders). If we were to go for such a marketing effort, then other PFP communities need to be taken into consideration as well, some which I think align better with the values of Popcorn, i.e. Villians (run by the the art collective FeltMag), Sad Girls Club, World of Women, Blazed Cats (who were created with the sole purpose to raise funds for charity). There are a few. BAYC is just one of the highest visible one, but not necessarily the best.
